Builted on the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Wu Shi Shrine is located at Jiaxiang County Shandong Province which was originally Wu family cemetery ancestral halls. But it's destroyed by the Yellow River flood, the remnants were only more than 40 pieces of images and Billboard Stone Reliefs. These portraits of the Han Dynasty Stone attracted the attention of many scholars form the world, they tried their best to rehabilitate and interpret it. Because of the using of different methods, they come to the conclusion differently. Up to time now, the methods used in the research has become the stimulation point.1. BackgroundBurial art is the most concentrated display of history era ideas, Wu Shi Shrine portrait art was not just to conveying the sense of the individual, but performance of the collective consciousness of Han dynasty. After the research, we can study the arts of the Han Dynasty which means folk art style and the overall characteristics of the times.2. ContextThe Wu Shi Shrine is rich for it's portrait, and covered the majority of the stone carving art of Han Dynasty. This paper studies the subject on the method of culture firstly, the research fields include the circumstances of the times, ideolism, customs, the identity of the burial owner. And then from the ancestral hall-type and the layout of the portrait, the research studies the theme and the covered means of the portraits deeply by using method of graph.3. Characteristic (The article's innovation spot is as follow)In the field of the Wu Shi Shrine study, there are many voices in many issues. In this paper, based on cultural studies and the studies of graph, the study elaborates Wu Shi Shrine's external circumstance completely. The conclusion form the upper step just interprets the common parts of all the artistic portrait. Then from the specific screen of the Wu Shi Shrine, the study interprets the ideological content of the art and finds out the unique point of this portrait art.
