This thesis has investigated Zhi-mo Xu's translation and its influenceon his literary creation based on the medio- translatology and origin study. It mainlytalks about the different features of his translating theory and practice and whatsupported his creation, which was one of the most important factors for his successfulliterary composition. The way of viewing Xu's creation from translation is an attemptto broaden and deepen the study of Xu's works.The dissertation is made up of two parts. The first part is about Xu's translationtheory and practice, of which the translation theory starts from the following threeaspects——the serious and careful translation attitudes, the translation principles withboth form and spirit as well as the meaning-centered translation methods, and ofwhich the practice part discusses the choice of translation materials and translationlanguages as well as the personal characterized translation. Strictly speaking, Xu'stranslation is not real translation indeed because he treats the translation from thecultural angle. The second part analyses the influence which Xu's translation has onother literary creation. This part is mainly about the importance of realizing poetrytheory, the language as well as the music beauty to the poetry form, meanwhilecompares the similarity between the works of some foreign writers such as ThomasHardy, Edward Carpenter and George Gorden Byron and so on and that of Zhi-mo Xufrom the origin study and makes the western origin of Zhi-mo Xu's works clear.The end part scans the whole text. Zhi-mo Xu's translation and creation aredominated by his attitudes towards life and art, at the same time influenced by theMay Fourth Culture Movement as well, so that we should make remarks on Mr Xu'stranslation according to the real history context, pay great attention to his translationachievements culturally and fully affirm its beauty in that times.In terms of the relationship between Xu's translation and creation, it is thetranslation that leads Xu to the road of literary creation, both of which alternate,promoting mutually and improving together.This article only refers to the single effect the translation has on the creation,with the influence that the creation has on translation unmentioned in detail.It is a research direction full of life to study Xu's translation, or creation, or theinteractive relationship between them, from a new viewpoint, researches of othermodern literature works can also be started from this point.
