Abstract: In her teaching experienceand critical practice, Chia-ying Yeh puts forward the core of her poetics, the theory of moving (touching) and inspiring. Centered on this theory, the paper discusses it comprehensively and thoroughly. The theory of moving (touching) and inspiring becomes more tolerable and flexible and covers the four elements of literature: universe, author, text and reader by sufficiently absorbing ancient Chinese literary theory especially the beneficial elements of "inspiring", and combining with reception theory and new criticism of the western heory. The theory of moving (touching) and inspiring is innovative and scientific, and it is exploration and development of Chinese poetic theory. Because the theory of moving (touching) and inspiring is based on the tradition of ancient Chinese poetics and in accordance with the feature of the creation of ancient Chinese poetry, the putting forward of the theory provides new criteria for evaluating poetry. More important is that Chia-ying Yeh puts her own theory into practice, reaffirms the chanting tradition of ancient Chinese poetry, and vigorously promotes the popularization of education of poetry and Ci(song) from the perspective of cultivating the youth's appreciation, imagination and molding of their mind and virtue. For 60 years, Chia-ying Yeh spares no effort to teach and spread the excellent ancient Chinese culture and tries to convey the power of moving (touching) and inspiring in ancient Chinese poetry to the readers and audience.
