We discuss the etymon' s study about "Tongya" from two aspectsby modernized theory of the etymology.On the hand,we excavate andconsolidate the Cognate in "Tongya" by the theory—if the sound issimilar, the meaning has the connection,including the three kinds:themonosyllabic cognate,the disyllable cognate,and the same syllablecognate.On the other hand,we discuss the Covert meaning simply in"Tongya".Firstly, we divide the disyllable monosemy as threekinds:phonetic disyllable monosemy, semantic disyllable monosemy, thesame syllable disyllable monosemy. And discuss the covert meaning ofthe disyllable monosemy, tesify fouties the disyllablemonosemies.Secondly, we discuss the covert meaning about compoundfrom two aspects:philology and culture,and tesify some covert meaningabout compound.We evaluate etymon' s study about"Tongya"according to thediscussion. The achievement have three aspects:has the aboundanttheory about the etymology, utilize the mang means about theetymology, supply with materials about the etymon.Certainly, it have somedefects about the etymon' s study about"Tongya": it is unscientificabout the terminology, it hasn' t surpass in essence about the theory, ithas much mistaken in the discussion.
