Study On The Synonym Of Shuo Yuan

Shuo Yuan compiled by LiuXiang in Xi-han Dynasty is one of the complete ancient books. Compare to other ancient books, such as Shang Shu, Shi Ji, Han Shu, researching on Shuo Yuan is too deficient. All researchers just study on its annotation and compiling. Studying on semantic, such as disyllabic word, synonym, is in its beginning. Based on the previous studies on Shuo Yuan, this paper selects the synonym as an object. The paper was structured in following steps: In the first chapter the paper gives a brief introduction on the author—LiuXiang and Shuo Yuan. In the second chapter the paper describes the study of the ancient synonym and analyses the words and phrases' value of Shuo Yuan. The third chapter is the core of this paper, by using "connecting by sememe", all synonyms, about 158 groups are collected; And then about 23 groups, in part order, are differentiated and analyzed one by one. At the same time, using induction method and grapheme's method etc., some judgment on the question of Chinese big dictionary is given out. After researching on the synonym, we find that the synonym has an integrity system, such as there is a current word in it, every word has it owns function. With reference to the analyses of the synonym of ancient books, this thesis proposes some suggestions in the last chapter.
