Reaserch On Assimilation Of Zhangsun Clan

This thesis chooses Zhangsun clan who accepted the advanced civilization of the Han nationality exhausitively as study in order to go further into the transformation of ethnic self-identity by means of inscription on the graves and official history.This thesis makes a comprehensive analysis to the transformation in five section.At first this paper fore shadow the authors' argument in order that the reader may have a clear understanding of the research situation. Chapter 1 ingtroduces the origin of the family name, the reason and time of changing family name, the move and distribution of the clan.Chapter 2 states early in the Northern Wei Dynasty, Zhangsun clan begin to accept some institute which is belong to Han nationality, but Zhangsun clan still have difficult in communicating with Han people because of the difference in kinds of aspects from Han people.Chapter 3 introduces later in Northern Wei, Emperor XiaoWen took action to assimilate the people of XianBei nationality. Zhangsun clan resist emperor XiaoWen's reform at the beginning, but Finally Zhangsun clan become adapted to it which makes Zhangsun clan's primordial sentiment of Han nationality come into being. but this trend become slow because the political circumstance.Chapter 4 states in Sui dynasty and Tang dynansty, Zhangsun clan finally form Han nationality self-identity, writer try to analyses the reason.
