Exploring With Difficulty

Fengzhi,he used to be called as"the most excellent lyricist in China"by Luxun, had come to Kunming after the anti–Japanese War broke out, and began the full bloom period of his personal creation. Some new appearances had now been spread in Fengzhi's works very different from his creations before; in particular, an important difference was a new understanding for his idea about"individual".Early in the end of 1920's, Fengzhi had begun to rethink about the thought of"expressing ongself's emotion"in his works. He made efforts to get rid of his thinking about the narrow space of individual, and explored the possibility to overcome the spiritual crisis of individual. Nevertheless, at that time he was not able to find the efficient method to break through himself. His study career in Germany University, his move experience within the period of anti–Japanese War, and his living in the far rear–area, all these had given Fengzhi a chance for rethingking of individual. He began consciously to invest his individual idea into the place related with the public, nation and era, and then made a deep thingking over it. At the same time, in his study of Rilke, Goethe and Dufu, he actively explored those valuable spiritual tradition, and continuously made meaningful and enriched understanding to his individual idea, his purpose was just for building of a new subject image of national spirit.
