Cizhou Kiln originated from the Song Dynasty and gradually developed into a huge folk kiln system in the Northern China. Black painting on white chinaware is the most unique form of decorative arts in Cizhou Kiln, which was influenced by the literati paintings in the Song and Jin period and employed the Chinese traditional painting skills. At the same time, Black painting on white chinaware borrowed the graphic patterns and composition forms that were popular among people and created the most ethnic characteristics of ceramic decorative arts.This paper is based on the field investigations, literatures, documents and the author's creation experience. First, through the field investigations which provides the first-hand information and the related documents collection, the author made close analysis on the historical background of black painting on white chinaware and unique shapes and pictorial language of decoration, to explore its internal essence of traditional aesthetic culture and fully demonstrate its aesthetic value.Second, in conjunction with the author's own creation experience, the author emphasizes the contemporary Cizhou Kiln should shoe the features of this time on the basis of its national character, and in the meanwhile the author put forwards some new design ideas on Cizhou Kiln contemporary decorative arts of ceramic products.
