At the beginning of new century, the study of kungfu novels show a lot of new characteristics, such as the minute study of one period of kungfu novels; study of view and idea cross culture in kungfu novels; study of the history and development of kungfu novels; study of kungfu novels's art and esthetically accepts; comparative study of kungfu novels and so on. The fervor to the study of kungfu novels and the nourishment absorbed from it is the foundation of this article. Si Wang Ting Quan Zhuan with another two name Lv Mu Dan and Hong Bi Yuan, was wrote by somebody in Qing dynasty in 1830 A.D. based on folk storytelling which spread for a long time. Since generation, the novel was welcomed extensively by readers. There were countless publication printing plates, and was adapted for a lot of types of drama, many kinds of dramas were performed. Si Wang Ting Quan Zhuan has the characteristic that types mixed, my article treats it as kungfu novel to investigate finally. This is not my own view, it has been referred to ZhangJun's Qing Dai Xiao Shuo Shi,ChengPingyuan's Qian Gu Wen Ren Xia Ke Meng—Wu Xia Xiao Shuo Lei Xing Yan Jiu,CaoZhengwen's Zhong Guo Xia Wen Hua Shi,HanYunbo's Zhong Guo Xia Wen Hua:Ji Dian Yu Cheng Chuan etc. But all the narration show the characteristic that one have to mention but haven't say sufficiently. This demonstrates the novel can't be neglected in kungfu novels'development history. On the other hand, it displays that it is insufficient to the study of this novel.In my article, I believe that Si Wang Ting Quan Zhuan stands at an important position which is taking over from the past and setting a new course for the future in the development history of kungfu novels, its intrinsic culture, artistic characteristics, literature history position are all worth going still one step further to excavate. The article describes the academic research state of kungfu novels in the new century; analyzes the image at the position of thematology of two outstanding swordsmans-old playboy and chivalrous woman; investigate its ideology, intrinsic culture, text origin, and influence to swordsman later on; picks the theme such as Sorrow for Spring and Women to Falsely Accuse, analyzes the cultural meaning, show its reference and innovation to the traditional cultural; uses literature type theory to investigate the reference to gifted scholar and beautiful woman novel, complicated legal case novel and script for story-telling novel in types, depiction, plot and so on, study it's characteristics as kungfu novels in transition period; explain the cultural meaning of pay attention to the not- essential and popular works, make it bright that Si Wang Ting Quan Zhuan is the milestone in the development history of kungfu novels.
