As is known to all, China, with 56 nationalities, is an old country with more than 5,000 years of civilization. Its colorful cultures are extensive and profound, which have been admired by people all over the world. During thousands years of historical development, the Mongols channeled their painstaking efforts into improving and enriching Chinese cultures. They have not only made indelible contribution to politics, economy and military affairs, but also preserved a large number of valuable historical literature and documents in which the concept of respecting nature and developing harmoniously with it was stated clearly. This totally corresponds to modern worldview of protecting the environment and persisting in sustainable development.Traditional Mongolian culture contains rich knowledge as to the notion of building up harmonious relationship between human beings and nature and protecting the environment. It is even precious as traditional Mongolian indoor modeling design is concerned and deserves much study. Although the original design by Mongols was primitive and uncultivated and incomparable to modern update planning, it was self-evident that they did well with life, nature, and other livings in the world, since this was an indispensable part to primitive traditional Mongolian culture. Therefore, this paper is aimed at studying and analyzing the differences between primitive and present design of indoor modeling by Mongols, so as to dig out the essence of traditional Mongolian indoor design and adapt it to the spirit of the times. Only in this way can the"living fossils"be vigorous and thriving again. It could also give helpful theoretical meaning and realistic enlightenment to sustainable development. In modern times, human beings are endeavoring to establish a harmonious relationship with nature on the basis of sustainable development, which is critical to the maintenance of worldwide peace and stability and the common hope of all nations and nationalities in the world.
