Philip II's regime is Empire Spanish's turning period that is from prosperity to decline, it's also the historical stage that the West Europe society transforms the Iberia era to the contending for hegemony by Netherlands, Britain and France. As is known to all, the discussion about the reasons of historical changing attracts many scholars'attention. Nevertheless, until now, there is no professional analysis on the relations between Philip II'Matrimony and the changes of international relation at that time. Therefore, this paper will express the author's slight opinions.Round about 16 century, although Empire Spain was the powerful leader of West Europe. In fact, it was in dilemma that these factors, the attacks of the Empire Ottoman and the Valois, the regional conflict in German , caused this circumstance. For the continuation of brilliant Empire, accomplishing the dream of global dynasty, Philip II made full use of Matrimony, with Portugal, Britain, France and Austria. He hoped this policy could strive for alliances, puncture foes, safeguard and extend Empire's profits. Things turn out contrary to his wishes. The four marriages make so many enemies to him and his empire. In the end, the following wars and revolutions exhaust the national power. The Spanish falls to be the second rank country in West Europe, which is forced to give up the position to the newly state country, like Netherlands, Britain and France.Philip II's Matrimony Diplomacy indicates that expansion by Matrimony Diplomacy shouldn't be the basic policy of a state. Early stage of modern Empire Spain's decline was the result of many factors. The construction of state nation was a big progress at that time, but Philip II still pursued the fixed policy-- Matrimony Diplomacy. This is an important reason we should think deeply about.
