On The Construction And Predicaments Of The American Northeast Asian Strategy After The Cold War

After the end of the Cold War, the United States relied on its superior economic and military strength, attempting to establish a unipolar world hegemony dominated by its superpower. To meet the need of its global hegemony strategy of the United States, Asia began to add weight in the strategic balance. In recently, this district become the focus of the world hegemony strategy of the United States. Middle East, Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia are the regions which the United States would control in Asia or even in the whole world emphatically. However, Northeast Asia is not the region like the Middle East that the United States need to control and solute urgently, it becomes more and more important in American strategy layout status.Especially in recent years, the economy of the nations in Northeast Asia develops rapidly, the United States has benefited a great deal in this region. And in this region, several nations that the United States is concerned about are gathering, such as China, Russia, Japan, North Korea and South Korea. Especially the strength of China rises rapidly, China begins to become the kind of nation that American thinks it likely to be the most potential threaten to its global hegemony strategy. These factors highlighted the strategic value of Northeast Asia to the United States. Thinking from the point of the perspective of economic corporation, the United States wants to have a stability environment in this region, but in order to protect the interests in this region and the global hegemony, it would control this area by its politic and military strength, and the consequence resulted in the factors of American intervening in the affairs in Northeast Asia.Therefore, the U.S forms a set of strategies to control the Northeast Asia region specially. Specifically speaking, the United States is located in North America, far away from the Northeast Asia, but it in order to create sufficient reasons to intervene in the affairs in Northeast Asia, it creates an international environment of intervening in affairs in Northeast Asia, by means of getting a food in the leftover problem of Japan after the Second World War and the division state of the Korean Peninsula. Nowadays, America bases on Japan, and reinforces the U.S.-Japan and U.S.-Koreas'Alliance and strengthen trilateral military cooperation as the main forms, and it takes the main measures though spreading China threat theory, and keeps the Korean tense situation and tries hard to keep the current situation of the Taiwan Straits that it is neither unified nor independent, all these actions are taken is to realize one purpose, that is America attempts to control Northeast Asia and then maintain the dominant position in this area. Though the Northeast Asian strategy that the U.S. constructs and implements faces the predicaments in three respects, the inherent predicament of strategy itself, alliance internal difficult position, the predicament of external environment. Because of these predicaments, the function and effectiveness of America's Northeast strategy is greatly weakened, If the United States ignores these predicaments, implements it without relevant thoughts, it is possibility that the Northeast strategy that America builds carefully will collapse and lose its effectiveness thoroughly.
