The religious relationship between western Mongolia and Tibet developed gloriously in the mid-17th century. The fifth Da-Lai-bla-ma A-Wang-Luo-Sang-Jia-Cuo, as the head of the Gelupas Sect, made a significant contribution to promoting the religious relationship between Mongolia and Tibet during this period. This paper is aiming at exploring the religious relationship between western Mongolia and Tibet in three chapters on base of introducing the origins of the four tribes——Heshuote, Zhunger, Tuerhute and Duerbote. It mainly refers to the religious relationship between western Mongolia and Tibetan reflected in the missionary work, the giving dignitary title , the invocation of diving blessing and the dispelling of disaster, the charities, the worship, the great Buddhist and the《Weila Te Code》. This paper also displays the changeable relationship between the two nationalities through studying historical materials written in Tibetan, Mongolian and Chinese characters to make further explanation on the special function of religious cultural communication in promoting the development of the relationship between nationalities.
