Bora in 1929 in Switzerland, Heinrich Ott was viewed as one of the most famous theologists in his time and the first man introducing the philosophy of late Heidegger's into theology, which, employed by the scholars in studying theology in the later periods, exerted a profound influence over the whole Christendom.In the first chapter, the author outlines different viewpoints on God in various periods of the history of Christianity; The second chapter constitutes the main points of the dissertation. In the chapter, the author discusses features of personality and ascendance reflected in the image of God; the author also notes in this part the traditional viewpoints of God is facing up to the challenges from all viewpoints from science and technology in the modern time; in the third chapter, the author focuses the relationship between God and human beings, which constitutes the theme of his thought on God. In this part, the author argues, in order to understand Heinrich Ott's thought on God, we need to pay more attention to his viewpoints on human beings; in the forth chapter, the author discusses the relations between God and ethic in the context of Heinrich Ott's thought of God, arguing that our interpretation of the words from God is to be done in the context of human life and social reality.In the dissertation, the author introduces Heinrich Ott's viewpoints of God, and argues that personal experience and feeling are to constitute important factors in our understanding about God, who absorbs human image and personality in his holy feature, which, in turn, becomes the source of divinity and ascendance. Ott's viewpoints of God expands the traditional interpretations from Holy Bible and the doctrines of Christian churches. He argues, reinterpreting God from the angle of humanity is to provide an answer to the global crises arising from the tech-dominant world.
