As an important branch of EST (English for Science and Technology) translation, medical translation boasts an important status in China with accomplished research results by specialists in this field. However, most medical translation studies are more practice-oriented than research-oriented, thus leaving much leeway for theoretical guidance. Given the above reason, the author of this thesis intends to probe into some theories governing the practice of medical English through analyzing the stylistic features of medical English and by combining previous medical translation studies. The paper ends with suggested translation strategies.
