The Research Of Jin Dynasty Writers In The He'nan Local Chronicles

Jin Dynasty literature is one of the important parts of Chinese ancient literature. Yet for the damage of wars and the influence of prejudice, the Jin Dynasty literature research doesn't have the desirable emphasis and becomes the weak link of Chinese ancient literature research. From the new period till now, some scholars begin to set foot in the Jin Dynasty literature, but the total research strength is also not sufficient, especially that researching and arranging of the basic documents still have a lot of blank to fill.In the September, 2004,â… , fortunately took part in the research task of The index of Jin People biographies, directed by National Commission for Classic Editing & Research by Institutions of Higher Learning and I was in charge of investigating documents of He'nan province. First, according to zhong guo di fang zhi lian he mu lu, I, making a county as a unit, investigated 94 counties annals of He'nan Provice through studying the geography category of Complete library of the Four Treasures, The collection of Chinese local records (pulished by Cheng Wen Press), The collection of New Editing local records (published by Taiwan studentbook publishing house), photomechanical The Selection of Ming Dynasty local records collected in Tian yi pavilion (published by Shanghai Classic bookstore), The sequel of The Selection of Ming Dynasty local records collected in Tian yi pavilion (published by Shanghai book store publishing house) and The collection of song and yuan Dynasty local chronicles (published by Dahua publishing house). I looked up totally 115 local chronicles and complete the preliminary documents accumulation. Second, on the basic of the gathered basic documents, I established a databank and rearranged the information to sort out the Jin Dynasty writers recorded in the He'nan Local chronicles. Third, I classified the writings and biographies of Jin Dynasty writers recorded in the He'nan local chronicles. Because of the limination of time, vigour and writing length, I just complete the essay about the biographies of Jin Dynasty Writers recorded in the He'nan local chronicles, The rest about verifying the writings of Jin Dynasty writers recorded in the He'nan local chronicles will be completed in my next essay.The Jin Dynasty writers are confined to the writers who appended in the art and literature annals of He'nan local chronicles or whose writings were recorded in the other parts of local chronicles, The total writers is 140, 66 of which had biographies. The Essay has two parts. First, it introduces the version indexes of local chronicles which contain 21 local chronicles used in gathering raterials, 31 country annals didn't look up for limitation of time and researching condition and the correction of zhong guo di fang zhi lian he mu lu.. And because the sum of the 115 local chronicles of 94 counties which have been looked up is so big that I list them in the appendix rather than the essay body. Then the part of verifying the biographies of Jin Dynasty writers is mainly the comparision between the biographies of Jin Dynasty writers in the He'nan local chronicles and the personality biography materials of Local chronicles have 5 figures completely copied from Jin History and 2 figures partly from Jin History; 4 figures completely form The collection of zhong zhou and 4 figures partly from The collection of zhong zhou; 2 figures both from Jin History and The collection of zhong zhou; 47 figures existed in local chronicles but not found in Jin History, The collection of zhong zhou and Gui Qian Records; 2 figures' local chronicles remain to be verified. Through researching, we can find that the personality biographies of local chronicles copied from Jin History and The collection of zhong zhou are the most, whose character of styles and contents are similar, but quotation from Gui Qian Records is nearly none. The most valuable materials are the biographies of 47 hidden figures.In a word, local chronicles preserve a lot of Jin documents, which have great sense for researching Jin Dynasty Literature and need us to have further arranging and researching.
