Because English navy once used to carry the army from one side of the sea to the other side in King Alfred. Not until the Tudors, the navy still used to carry the armies, not used to fight. But the navy had something different use; it was used to protect the trading ship safety. There were only six ships under King Henry VII. But up to King Henry VIII, British royal navy had something new, it changed a lot, including the numbers of ships, dockyards, arms, the structure of ships, power of navigation, and so on. The sea war was very fierce; the royal navy had an important role. King Henry VIII realized the important role of navy from the sea war with France in 1513. What's more, the privates of this time had a bad influence of exploration and carrying trade. So, navy means a lot to a country.Chapter II mainly analyses total representations of British royal navy early modernization. First of all, King Henry VIII put a lot of money and men power in the establishment of royal navy. He renewed the Navigation Bill of King Henry VII, built several dockyards, such as Portsmouth dockyard. The fortification of England had a good effect. Many people devoted their lives to the establishment of royal navy. Admiral Edward Howard, Thomas Howard, William Fitzwilliam contributed their lives. The power of admiralty enlarged from maritime affairs jurisdiction to the field of civil affairs. Secondly, the organizational system of royal navy came to be perfect under King Henry VIII. All kinds of sailors were on the warships in this time, and the modern navy board came to being. Finally, the royal navy under King Henry VIII was the origin of British royal navy's early modernization. So, there were much more warships than before. And we can tell the difference of warships and armed merchant ships. To the equipment of the warships, the cannon on the sides played an important role on sea wars. It had a lot of advantages.Chapter III mainly discusses the influences of the royal navy under King Henry VIII, which effected on the navy's modernization. It had a profound influence to English history. The powerful navy established hegemonic state on the sea, and offered immense military power to continental policy of England. In the long ran, King Henry VIII established the basic of British royal navy's development, and influenced the royal navy's normalization afterwards.
