The Research Of The Political Modernization And Economic Modernization Of Pakistan During The Ayub Khan’s Military Rule

Pakistan, with the rapid development of political modernization, went through the established and developed of Muslim League, the institutional heritage of the colonial government and civilian govt constructed before Ayub khan set up the first military regime in the history of Pakistan in 1958. In the early days of the Civil Government, made economic plans to vigorously supported the development of industry under the circumstance of weakly industrial base, after that the industrialization process sped up. However, agriculture was the foundation of national economic development, the behavior of supporting civilian government industrial development at the price of extrusion of agricultural production to support the development of industry resulting in insufficient investment in agricultural production and slow development of agriculture. After Ayub khan had successfully set up his military rule, he pushed a presidential system which focus on the modern state power in politics. He practiced basic democracy, expanded public participation in the political level, broadened the country ruling foundation.Made A 1962 constitution, established national legislative, judicial and administrative institutions, etc. Although national military and political power was concentrated on Ayub khan himself and damaged democracy to a certain extent, but military rule of Ayub khan still promoted Pakistan’s political modernization. In the field of economy,he pushed the land reform, carried out the green revolution, attached great importance to the development of national agriculture, promoted agricultural modernization of the country. Inherited the civilian government industrial development policy, supported industry development, accelerated the pace of industrialization, changed the unreasonable economic structure, promoting the modernization of the national economy at the price of industrialization.This paper first reviews Pakistan’s political, military rule before the foundation of economic modernization of Ayub khan, then discusses the causes and characteristics of establishment of military regime, emphatically analyzed period Pakistan’s political modernization of Ayub khan and its impact on Pakistan’s success.In the end, it discusses Pakistan’s economy reform measures in Ayub khan reign, analyses of Pakistan’s economic modernization and its influence in this period.
