Research On Corner Patterns Of Tang Gold And Silver Wares

The form of the gold and silver wares in Tang Dynasty,exceeding other all categories of different material, included most of the popular adornment patterns in Tang Dynasty, and evolved a style of its own by consummate craft. These artifacts had caused a widely interesting of all of the world.Chinese and Foreign scholars had studied them from different angles and levels for years.But as one fact,patterns on these aritifacts had been ignored for a long time, even if pattern itself was always used to be the most unlackable clue in dividing epoches. Only a few studies go through the patterns and less from the patterns sample body to the expression of thoughts.And the in-depth discussion of relations between patterns and arifacts is also lacked.This paper discuss one of this patterns,perhaps the most unvisable one and the most ordinary one, Cape corner patterns(CCP).Though it,I hope to give you another sight about patterns'value.Cape corner patterns(CCP)evolved with the major category of all patterns synchronously.The theme includes plant ,animal , person and four others.The form includes twine, fold , knot and regiment. The numerous category and the abundant feature can reflect the major adornment characteristics of the gold and silver patterns in Tang Dynasty from one side.Along with the difference of the artifacts form and decorated position and the usage of craft, the appearance of CCP also presents abundant aspects. As a result,some of them could be used as the most importance cule to divide epoches .The studies about CCP's evolution and absorption from foreign culture with innovation also show a new angle about evolution of the gold and silver adornment patterns in Tang Dynasty.Owing to the characteristics of the CCP, this article used different methods like historical data learning, typology etc,and launched a discussion from three aspects :the theme,the zone of expression and relations between patterns and artifacts. We emphasized the relations between different topic and its regulation. In detail, decorative unit is used to distinguish the function zone. The deep connection with the historical,social,cultural and regional influence is carefully considered in the whole progress and always act as the axis of thought.Then we used the list and tables to parallel CCP's various distribution and the progress of evolution and reasons, and combined with the artifact style and the patterns composition. Finally we found that function of the patterns determined by its artifact form and the form influenced by the patterns decorative function. The relation of the decoration and the form could be raise to a new higher level"the perfect state of combination".This article aim to show one scene of the character of Tang Dynesty which can be discribed as open,heroic and diverse. Thorough analysis about CCP,the tiny assistant patterns,and its way create the harmonious relation between all pattern decoration and the artifact is the one.The people in Tang Dynasty opposed the fetter formed by faith and religion ,hug on and absorbed the new culture element and art form,finally created the fantastic realm of art.It is a good example to our moden people to learn how to face the foreign culture in the progress of internationalization and frequent conflict caused by the confrontation of different cultures.
