Khitan ethnic is an ancient nationality. They lived in Jilin, Liaoningand Inner Mongolia area with nomadic life of hunting and fishing. Goldand silver wares culture is an important part of the Khitan ethnic culture.It also retains a great deal of information in northern China’s ancientnomadic culture. Deeply explored the Khitan nationality gold and silverwares culture, it has important academic value of reference for theancient northern nomadic culture.This paper focused on the gold and silver wares’ the formation anddevelopment. It analyzed types and artistic characteristics of gold andsilver wares from different tombs. The gold and silver wares wereclassified as food-use utensils, harness, burial, ornaments. Firstly deeplyresearched the impact on the Khitan gold and silver wares from nomadicculture and discussed the similarities and the differences between Khitanand Huns. Secondly, this text also expounded the gold and silver wares’ornamentation characteristics and the influence from religion and foreignculture. Finally it analyzed gold and silver wares’ functionalcharacteristics and spirit aims. Based on the above, this paperpropounded significance of the development of national grasslandculture. Through the nomadic culture perspective, further discussed thecultural connotation and aesthetic characteristics of Khitan gold andsilver wares. This paper utilized the scientific methods of comparison and classification, summarized the development and evolution of goldand silver wares.
