Alai's Novels And The Culture Of The Western Sichuan Tibetan Nationality

This article attempts to use the material and methods of literature, history, ethnology, folklore and other disciplines, through the fictionalizes characters and the time which Alai described in his novel, to comprehend the western Sichuan Tibetan nationality's real history, social conditions and local customs.Therefore, this article first briefly narrates Alai's life experience, his novel creation and the researches involved with Alai's novel in the present time. Then, from four aspects, it discusses the connection between Alai's novels and the historical culture of western SichuanTibetan nationality. That four individual aspects constitute the whole parts of this thesis together, they are: the first chapter, "the Alai's novels and the western Sichuan Tibetan nationality's history"; the second chapter, " the religious world in Alai's novels "; The third chapter, the custom of western Sicnhuan and Alai's novels"; the fourth chapter, " the language art—the Chinese expression in Alai's novels".Finallly, through the thorough analysis in these above mentioned four parts step by step, we can safely conclude that although Alai's novels are only fictions, but through those artifical people and things, he still presents us a book of science about the western Sichuan Tibetan nationality in 20th century.
