SWB (subjective well-being) research began in the 1950s in the United States, and came to the vision of our Chinese researchers in the 1990s. The related research on SWB found that social support and mental health are important factors. This study aims to investigate the relationships among social support, mental health of college students and SWB, as well as another issue that how do social support and mental health influence SWB. This research, on the one hand, enriches the theoretical results of the study of SWB, on the other provides some reference and enlightenment for the college students' mental health education. The samples of this study are taken randomly from three college 326students in Hubei Province, of whom were 145boys, were 181girls. It adopts the emotional scale made by Diener(1984,1995), the young students life satisfaction scale made by Zhang Xinggui(2004), "Social Support Rating Scale" (SSRS) made by Xiao Shuiyuan, university student personal health questionnaire (UPI) these four Scales as investigative tools. The results show that: SWB varies from college students with different grades, genders, and majors. The senior students in college are most satisfied with their lives; girls have more positive feelings than boys; some students have more positive feelings than those majoring in science and art. Social support and SWB are significantly correlated and different dimensions of social support on SWB and forecast of its indicators are not the same. Mental health as a factor of influencing SWB is closely-related to SWB. After the analysis of intermediary effects traditions and the test of intermediary functions, it shows that mental health is the intermediary factor of social support and SWB. The hypothesis of the research can be applied to this model.
