During his hard-working of rebuilding historical materialism, reconsidering of social criticism and the influence of the turn of linguistic philosophy in modern society, Habermas succeeded in raising the theory of Universal pragmatics.Universal pragmatics analyses the action of utterance, the communicative function of the language--the communicative media, the relationship between listener and speaker and explains all of the conditions that are necessary for an understanding between people to be reached. During the communication, people will have to defend their meaning by satisfying the validity of speech in order to be understanding. The most important task of universal pragmatics is to provide new pattern for rational reconstruction for the support of the theory of communicative action.Lansign is the major midia of communicative action.Universal pragmatics is the foundation of the theory of communicative action.Universal pragmatics is the method to solve "the colonization of the world of life". Universal pragmatics is the condition of "ideal communicative community ".In a word, universal pragmatics is the core and foundation of the theory of communicative action.Universal pragmatics is highly significance for social criticism and Max historical materialism, has very strong practical value and helps us realize the reconstruction and innovation of philosophy. However, universal pragmatics misrepresents some of the ideas of historical materialism. The prospect of ideal society Habermas proposes is empty, short of practical contents and , in practice, impossible Utopia.
