A Survey On The Miniature Of The Chinese Literature In Thailand

Nowadays the Miniature has become an important kind of literature as well as a major tendency for the development of the Chinese literature of the world. The features of the Miniature lie in the shortness in length, the briefness in language and the flexibility in structure. However, it can never be replaced by the grand novel for its distinctive social and artistic functions. Presently, the Chinese literature in Thailand also shows the tendency of writing shorter and shorter stories. The Miniature in Thailand has a relatively short period of development. However, it has kept up with the international development of the Chinese Miniature and has made its own achievement. The thesis attempts to make a general survey of the Chinese literature in Thailand and explore comprehensively the history, the origin, the development as well as the present situation of the Chinese Miniature in Thailand. The thesis also attempts to illustrate the various cultural problems in terms of the contradiction, the conflict, and the construction of the cultural identity. It explores the social problems, the dialect problems, and the religious problems of the Chinese Miniatures in Thailand and at the same time analyzes the composition style, the artistic features, the representative writers, and the future development of the Miniatures as well as the problems they encounter.
