Since Walter Cannon in 1925 proposed stress, more and more scholars have started to pay attention to it which is closely related with a person's mental health. The modern stress theory generally believes that stress is a interactive effect between stimulation and response. Stress contains a series of intermediary factors such as the cognition, coping styles, social support and so on. On the bases of reviewing and reorganizing the reseaches home and abord, we find that the former studied focused on the relationship between the stress and the mental healthy, seldom on the the source of life events, coping styles and stress reaction, and this kind of complete link was only reseached in the official and the medical care personnel, which implied a lack of study college studengts'stress rereaction. Therefore, this research is aim to discuss the link among life-event, coping style and stress reaction in the universities. we hope it can provides the universities mental healthy education with some theory evidents and the practice instruction. The instruments for this study are Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Check List(ASLEC) by Mr.Liu Xianchen, Coping Style Questionary by Mr. Xiao Jihua and Stress Response Questionnaire (SRQ) by Mr.Jiang Qianjin. It carries on the investingation to 446 college students, which were from Henan Technical University and the Anyang Normal University. The data are processed by the t-test and MANOVA statistical method to discusses how do the undergratitude deal with the life-events, their coping styles and stress reaction; and it exploired the relationship among the three by pearson correlation and stepwise linear regression analysis; finally we uses the intermediary effect test to examine how the coping style effect the relationship between the life-events and stress reaction. The conclusions are as follows:1,"Learning stress"and"relationship"are primary life events to college students. There are significant gender, grade and origin differences in life events. That is, regarding to"the other dimensions"and"adaptation on health",the male students have normally more mean value than female ones. The students in Grade One get more mean value than ones in Grade Three on"human relations dimensions".The students from countryside own more mean value than from cities on"learning stress", "castigation","loss"and sum value.2,College students' coping styles for stress include"problem solving","help seeking","retreat","fantasy","rationalization"and"self-blame", whose frequency is from high to low. In general, the college students' coping styles are psitive. There are significant gender, grade, and speciality differences in coping styles. Females use"help seeking"more often than males and males in Grade Two more often than ones in Grade Four.Arts students use"fantasy"more often than science ones.3,There are no significant differences between the scores of stress reaction and those of the national norm. This indicates that the mental health conditions of college students are normal. But there are significant grade and speciality differences in the totle score of stress reaction. Scores of the students in Grade Two are significantly higher than those of the students in Grade Three and scores of art ones higher than those of science ones.4,Life events are found have significant positive correlation with stress reaction. Four coping styles factors including"self-blame","fantasy","retreat"and"rationalization"are also positively correlated with stress reaction."Problem solving"and"help seeking"are significant negative correlated with stress reaction."Self-blame","fantasy","retreat"and"rationalization"are positively correlated with life events and"problem solving"negative correlated with"the other"factor. However, none of the correlations between"help seeking"and life events factors reach significant.5,We find that"the other","adaptation on health"factors and"self-blame","retreat"and"rationalization"can predict students' stress reaction positively, and"problem solving"and"help seeking"can do negatively.6,Coping styles have partial mediating effect between life events and stress reaction.Positive coping styles have significant mediating effect and negative coping styles have no significant effect.
