Stress is inevitable in our daily life, college is stressful for most young man. The college time is the transition period between high school and social stage, it’s key time for young man to obtain knowledge and cultivate a variety of ability. Facing with many stressors, for example, adapting to new life, study, interpersonal communication, as well as looking for jobs, college students are experiencing lots of stress. Even more, many of them are suffering from the negative influence of stress have on their physical and mental health。Researchers have suggested that in order to prevent students suffer serious consequences, college should provide more stress management program.Scholars did a large amount of researches about stress coping and stress management, we obtain a lot from their results, but there are still some problems remain to be improved:Firstly, the theories are controversial, lacking of the mechanism of how various factors influence the coping styles comprehensively; Secondly, the theory researches did not provide scientific basis for stress management and intervention applications; Thirdly, lacking of qualitative research for coping styles of college students. It’s not benefit for us to understand the characteristics of specific coping styles. Fourthly, the most important thing is the most of interventions failed suit to college students themselves well, the pertinence is not strong.To solve all these problems, we analysis the characteristics and the mechanism of college students’coping styles, on this basis, we developed the stress management intervention plans, and employed them to help college students. Participants:All the participants are come from Zhejiang Normal University. Before the study we interviewed 10 college students to study their stressor, coping styles, social support, and cognitive appraisal. Then, we randomly selected 300 students to do questionnaire survey. Lastly, we recruited 30 students to participate in our stress management intervention. Methods:qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis.Results:1. Study 1:the most common stressors for college students are:academic pressure, interpersonal communication, time management, self development and career. These stressors impact their sleep quality, digestive system, immune system, also cause tension, anxiety, irritability and other negative emotions. Their coping styles are problem-solving, pour out, changing their cognitive appraisal, seeking social support, procrastination and avoidance.2. Study 2:perceived support has positive effects on problem-oriented coping, the availability of support positively affects problem-oriented coping and seeking social support, negatively affects avoidance. Core self-evaluation (CSE) has positive directly effects on problem-oriented coping, seeking social support, but negatively affects avoidance and self-blame. The effect of CSE on problem-oriented coping is mediated by appraisals of threatening, controllable-by-self, controllable-by-others, and perceived support, the availability of support; the effects of perceived support on problem-oriented coping is mediated by appraisals of controllable-by-self, controllable-by-others; The effect of CSE on seeking social support is mediated by perceived support and the availability of support. Study 3:After 7 times intervention, about a month and a half, we find that compared with the control group, the participates in experimental group adopted less avoidance and more seeking social support significantly, their appraisal of stress are less threatening, but more controllable-by-self; the perceived support and the availability of support is more. The quantitative analysis reveals that different participate prefer different strategies, but the stronger the operability, the better the results, especially for relaxation training, changing unreasonable cognition and time management.
