Friendship is a kind of special peer relationship, which is very intimate, within two individuals. It is a reciprocity process one vs. one. As a kind of special peer relationship, friendship is very important for the development of adolescent's sociality, cannot be replaced by other relationship.This thesis starts with a relatively detailed description about research on the friendship. On that basis, research is done by means of Friends Grid, Friendship Expectation Inventory, Friendship Quality Questionnaire, Loneliness Scale and Multi-Perspective Multi-Domain Self-Concept Inventory on a sample of 868 adolescents, which are the 5th, 7th, 10th, 12th grade students selected from 5 schools in Linshu County and Huimin County. It studies general characteristics of the adolescents in rural China, and discuss the relationship between friendship quality, self-conception and loneliness. Conclusions drawn in this thesis are as follows:1. The friendship expectation of the adolescents in rural China includes 3 dimensions, which are mutually alliance, intimacy and exclusivist, either on cognition or the taste of emotion. The friendship quality of the adolescents in rural China includes 6 dimensions, which are mutually alliance, enhancement of worth, intimacy, exclusivist, annoyance and conflict, companionship.2. On the cognition of friendship expectation. Boy's expectation of intimacy is significant higher than girl's, the gender differences of mutually alliance, exclusivist is not significant. The main effect of grade on exclusivist is significant; the main effect of grade on mutually alliance and intimacy is not significant. There are no significant differences between only-child and non-only-child on 3 dimensions. The adolescents', whose parents are peasant-worker, intimacy and exclusivist is significant higher than whose parents are at home. There are no significant differences on mutually alliance between these two kinds child. There is a interaction of sex and only-child on mutually alliance. 3. On the emotion taste of friendship expectation. Boy's taste of intimacy is significant higher than girl's, the gender differences of mutually alliance, exclusivist is not significant. The main effect of grade on intimacy and exclusivist is significant; the main effect of grade on mutually alliance is not significant. There are no significant differences between only-child and non-only-child on 3 dimensions. The adolescents', whose parents are peasant-worker, intimacy and exclusivist is significant higher than whose parents are at home. There are no significant differences on mutually alliance between this two kinds child. There is a interaction of sex and peasant-worker on mutually alliance and intimacy.4. Girl's friendship quality on mutually alliance, intimacy, exclusivist, companionship dimensions are higher than boy's, boy's friendship quality on enhancement of worth is higher than girl's, there is no significant difference on annoyance and conflict between boys and girls. The main effect of grade on mutually alliance, intimacy, exclusivist, annoyance and conflict is significant. The main effect of grade on enhancement of worth and companionship is not significant. The friendship quality of non-only-child on mutually alliance, enhancement of worth and companionship is higher than only-child, the friendship quality of only-child on exclusivist and annoyance and conflict is higher than non-only-child. Whether their parents are working out, it take no significant influences on their children'friendship quality. There is a interaction of sex and only-child on mutually alliance , enhancement of worth , intimacy , intimacy and companionship.5. The positive area of friendship quality, mutually alliance, enhancement of worth, intimacy, companionship, are all positive relevant to the social self-conception, are all negative relevant to loneliness. The negative area of friendship quality, exclusivist, annoyance and conflict, are all negative relevant to the social self-conception, are all positive relevant to loneliness. The social self-conception is negative relevant to loneliness.6. As a cognitive component, social self-conception take a mediated effect on the effect of enhancement of worth, exclusivist on loneliness.
