Traditional printing of woodcut developed its flouring at Ming Dynasty. At the flouring period of woodcut printing, there appeared many intaglio printing which is bold and resolute, vivacious, equilibrating black and white, besides the meticulous and tidy relief printing. In later stage of china some participant and literati produced overlapping printing, watermark, large-scale movable printing (reporting metritorious seyvice) .This is an innovation for traditional printing of woodcut. Of course , the feat of innovation based on concept of innovation. Dynast tried their best to arouse their all efforts to make the country prosperous at the prophase of Dynasty. Dynast's advocating woodcut printing made its more exquisite in order to moralize and reinforce its rule. It made breakthrough more than previous dynasty in graphics. The corrupt of bureaucracy and the darkness of officialdom in metaphase and anaphase made many literati feel despairing about official career and discredit about "official career". With the development of handicraft industry and sprout of capitalism many civilian swarm into city. New citizen stratum appeared. The change of new social stratum impact on the update of concept, but it brought the possibility of literati's participation in the draft of traditional printing, as stiff as a poker and printed circuit. Under the participation of artist and carpenter of countermark, traditional printing of woodcut made great innovation in feat, material, draft and printed circuit. It no longer staid duplicated, but began to create its own knife language and art character. This is the value of innovation.This thesis mainly studies the value of innovation in printing of woodcut of Ming Dynasty, which mainly study innovation of concept and innovation of draft. It divides into four parts. The first part introduces the reason, significance, means and the background of traditional printing of woodcut. The second part dissertates about aspects of innovation. It is the emphasis of the whole thesis. The last part reach a conclusion: intaglio printing, overlapping printing, watermark , large-scale movable printing (reporting metritorious seyvice)of the Ming Dynasty have the value of innovation. Most of important is that we can look its value as a sprout beginning of the produce printing of woodcut of art.
