The Ming Dynasty was the golden age of development of the woodcut illustration artin ancient China. The so-called woodcut illustration art, is paintings copy obtainedthrough woodblock printing mode, because of the art itself has the printed feature andpainting feature, therefore, it also know as woodcut. The printing cultural heritage inancient China, book illustration as the main part of the woodcut art, it always with thecreatorsˊindividual emotion and skill levels. Chinese classical novel and dramaworks, such as Heroes of water Margins, Romance of the western chamber, Romanceof the Three Kingdoms and The Tale of Pipa, because there have some differencesbetween the abridged edition﹑detailed version﹑follow-up﹑evaluation﹑offprint﹑the original print﹑reprinting, the same work, its appearance is not the same, someeven have dozens of styles of illustration version. With the element of the popularityof the illustration art﹑the prosperity of the printing industry and the closecommunication between painter and sculptor, the Ming dynasty have demonstrated itsunique visual charm and aesthetic emotion in both aspect of art and quality.This article mainly studies the woodcut illustrations printing history of The MingDynasty, using the phasic character in time to analyze the theme,content,genre,socialfunction,creation subject,and printing technology in woodcut printing of Mingdynasty, combine with the influences of physical concept and the aesthetics ofZhuang zi on woodcut of Ming dynasty, to excavate and understand the nationalcultural spirit and aesthetic emotion, to resurrect and acknowledge our nationalcultural spirit and aesthetic emotion can make us find secondary innovation abouttheoretical concepts,technological means,and expressional language in the basic ofInheriting and developing ancient traditional art,from which,the research of this topicprovides a wide historical and cultural reference for modern art and graphicdesign,and also has a practical significance.
