Visual communication between people uses the medium of 'sight', making use of the dissemination of visual elements to express meaning. Cutting across language barriers, differences due to geography, skin color, age, gender and language itself, can be eliminated by the delivery of information, including emotional communication, cultural exchanges, visual observation and experiences, through visual media. Images give visual access to graphics, design, drawings and plans, leading to a consensus in understanding and interaction.The following article deals with contemporary rapid developments in Chinese tourism, where small financial returns of tourism development in general and souvenirs in particular are a typical problem, resulting in some serious shortcomings in the development of innovative souvenirs, a clear disparity with developed countries, and seriously hampering the further development of tourism in China, amongst other issues. The paper discusses the research and development of unique souvenirs with a local expression.This paper researches the local Xi'an souvenir market, attempting to grasp the overall situation, identify deficiencies, offer inspiration through creative examples applying national cultural characteristics, brand awareness and other aspects particular to the Xi'an tourism market and while analyzing, at the same time offering viable solutions to the identified issues. In regards to applied creativity and design, this paper focuses on the essence of the Tang Dynasty's art and culture, beginning with generic patterns and designs of Tang Dynasty painting, to outstanding cases of creative inspiration in applied art and other related art forms, using a combination of methods applied to Xi'an Datang Furong Park attractions with a the aim of establishing new tourist designs.
