Tourist souvenir is a miniature of a tourism destination, it carrying the memory andexpressions of one tourist’s journey, opening out and transmission the regional culturejust like a card of the place.Chengde is one of24National Famous Historic City and one of the Top Ten ScenicSpots of China, The tourism industry has been widely developed. But as the mostresilient and potential of the tourist, souvenir is lagging behind. The souvenirs lack ofregional culture, special features, and brand awareness, they can not meet to the touristshopping, aesthetic, and the collectionneeds.The development of tourist souvenirs in Chengde can not only improves thesouvenir market development and related industries, but also plays a positive role for thedevelopment of Chengde’s tourism industry and promotion of Chengde tourism brandshaping. At the same time, it has the certain reference value to thedesign method anddevelopment of tourist souvenirs in other areas of China.Aimed at the phenomenon of tourism souvenir market in Chengde, this study isbased on a lot of investigations, analysis, resignation and researches. The study alsorelated theory on aesthetic design, tourist behavior, consumer psychology and others,combined with the present situation of domestic and foreign tourist souvenirs, andthrough the questionnaire to the tourists (souvenirs target customers), clarified thecharacteristics and design process of the tourist souvenir and the problems in the process.In the course of the study, the authors focus on the regional culture of Chengde, places ofhistoric interest and scenic beauty, all the natural landscape resources, and take the visualelements into the designation of Chengde tourist souvenirs, and let them being thesouvenirs which have the formation of the regional characteristics, cultural and naturalcharacteristic, ornamental, memorial, and other collections of multiple properties oftourist souvenirs.This paper thought three aspects. The region culture of Chengde, the design methodsof tourist souvenirs and the branding propose.
