As one of the most important parts of the arts education, the music education plays a more and more important role. Great attention is paid to the development of the music education as the quality education is greatly emphasized nowadays.Under this circumstances; this thesis profiled the development of the contempary music education in Shandong province from the late Qing dynasty to the beginning of the 21th century. On the basis of concluding the features of the music education, the thesis affirm the the achievements that music education has got. While it proposes some serious problems that the education system has, this thesis shows that the related problems should be paid attention during the development of music situation. This thesis comprises five parts: the introduction, the first chapter, the second chapter, the third chapter and the conclusion.In the first part, the acheivements of the history of Chinese music education was surveyed. The Chinese music education at school was also depicted. First, the development of Chinese music education was given. Because the existing research has not included concrete analysis from the tiny view, and there is less research about the history, the actuality of music education development and the combination of different regional culture. Since the research into the history of the music education in Shandong province is very important, some further studies was put forward.Chapter 1 introduced the music educated concepts, such as education, pedagogy, music education and etc. It is divided into two sections, section 1 described some concept about educationa; Section 2 described the music educational concept.Chapter 2 decribed the history of contempory and modern music culture from two aspects. The first one is from the late Ching dynasty to 1949, and the other aspect is from the establishment of the PRC to the beginning of 21 century. It is mainly about the promulgation of laws, the writing of the teaching material, the establishment of the teaching method, the construction of music education theories and etc.Chapter 3 is the body of the thesis, which is divided into three sections. Section 1 made an introduction to the politics, economy, culture and etc. of Shandong province; Section 2 described the music education condition of Shandong in Modern ages from two aspects, which were the developments of the modern education and the music education in Shandong province. Section 3 depicted the present condition of the education development after the liberation in Shandong province. Then, it made study on the music education actuality of 24 colleges, such as Shandong Art College, the Art college of Shandong University and etc., from several aspects which were the music education actuality in colleges, social music education, the professional art group, skill test in Shandong province etc.Then, the basic condition of college development, the development condition of the social art training school, the present condition of art groups and the reason of the skill test was surveyed in Shandong province.Chapter 5 concluded the development process of modern music education in Shandong province, generalized the feature of Shandong music education history, analyzed the relationship about the near modern of politics, economy, culture development and the music education in Shandong province, and finally put forward some related suggestions for Shandong province.
