Shandong Han Tomb Is A Preliminary Study

This thesis makes an initial arrangement about the tombs of Han Dynasty which have been unearthed scientifically in Shandong province after the new China'liberation .Based on the form of the tombs, burial equipment and the features, and with the help of local environment and the administrative division ,the thesis divides all of Han tombs in Shandong province into three districts: the southern part , the northern part and eastern part nearby the sea of Shandong .the thesis also divides the Han tombs into six stages .they are the early, middle and late period of the West Han Dynasty, the xinmang interregnum , the early and late period of East Han Dynasty.In terms of the classification above , the thesis concludes the local feature of three districts. In the southern part of Shandong , the tombs of stone coffin with ware box beside the coffin were prevail. The pottery ritual combination imitated copper ware of tripod, box, flask had continued for a long time. The worldly living vessel models such as granary, kitchen range, well and so on presented itself early. In the northern part of Shandong , the tombs of brick coffin with habitacle and the second layer stage were the rage. The pottery ritual combination appeared few and had continued for a short time. In the Eastern part of Shandong , glazed potteries were the main burial equipment ,and the two-eared flask is a distinctive local characteristic. This thesis concludes the common development rules as that the form of tombs were built more and more like the worldly house and the burial equipment became living vessel model gradually; The chamber from simple grave to several-room similar living-house, and the burial equipment from pottery ritual combination imitated copper ware to living funerary objects of granary, kitchen range, well and so on are the rules of Han tombs' development in Shandong province. At last ,the thesis probes into the cause of difference among these districts.This thesis also compares the similarities and differences between the Han tombs of Shandong and the central part, the northern part of Jiangsu, the southern part of Hebei. Finally, the author makes an elementary discuss and summarization about the historical culture and funerary custom which are reflected by the Han tombs of Shandong province.
