Along with the rising of the new social history, spreading of the field in socialhistory research and the intersection between different subjects, the relationship isbecoming more and more consanguineous between social history and cultural history.As a very important part in culture, education has increasingly got attention from thepublic as well. In England, which firstly stepped into the industrial society, people'shigh educational level plays a key role in the course of industrialization. On the basisof general explanation of investigation on the education and its framework in earlymiddle ages, this essay mainly analyzes the educational level of different socialclasses and reveals the essential educational condition in middle ages in England, soas to show that middle ages is an important historical period to improve the over-alleducational level of English people. This essay consists of the following five sections:Introduction:This part is mainly to explain the purpose, significance and the key point of thisresearch, and meanwhile to make a brief academic review for the research objectsconcerned, then to point out the visual angle of the paper.Chapter 1This section is mainly about education in early middle ages in England. Firstly,this chapter narrates the social background in this period to show the importantposition of Christianity as a guide in the state of chaos at that time. Besides, it alsoilluminates the fact that the education in this period regards the mission education asthe major part and common education (mainly royal education) as the minor.Chapter 2This section explains the educational framework in middle ages in England. Inthis period, education is consisted of mission school, urban school, rural school anduniversity. This chapter analyzes the different roles these schools and universities playin education of this period from the point of their characteristics. Chapter 3This section mainly analyzes the educational levels of different social classessuch as knights, nobles, citizens and farmers and so on from the angle of literacy rateand the way educated.ConclusionThis section gives a review of the whole essay and mainly discusses the motivefunction on the education in middle ages and the influence on social development inEngland made by each education above-mentioned.
