Based on the investigation of the theoretic controversial and creational situation in recent years, the thesis tries to discriminate and contemplate the historical inheritance, tragic theme, image molding, writing position, value and implication of the bottom strata literature. Besides the introduction and conclusion, the thesis is composed by four chapters.In the course of literature's development during the recent hundreds of years, literature has concentrated on the bottom strata for a long time in terms of its life and characters which has become one of the major subjects for literature. It also formed a realistic tradition to care about the bottom strata and to confront the reality. In recent years, with the development of the market economics, a new social strata divergence and a new social contradiction began to appear, at the same time both the knowledge circle and the literature creational circle gradually realized the importance of the bottom strata problem which had become more and more outstanding under the new historical conditions. They began to reexamine the relationship between literature and social reality, especially the bottom strata, and inherit the realistic creational tradition of caring about the bottom strata since the May 4 Movement in their literature creation; and then they gradually formed a new creational trend to care about the reality and confront the bottom strata.In recent years, built on the foundation of inheriting the tradition, the bottom strata literature creation expressed the strong realistic spirits of directly confronting the reality, the humane feeling of concerning about the suffering of the bottom strata in the authentic description of its suffering life. Through the tragic scenes of the contemporary bottom strata life, the works fully display the living condition and mould alive and fresh community of the tragic bottom strata characters, then expand the creating space for the tragedy and deepen the art connotation of the realism.The main bodies of the bottom strata literature creation are intellectuals and writers who initiatively choose the spokesman and display the bottom strata life with its writing ways to highlight the bottom strata problems, and seek the right direction to solve them. It is not just reality for the current writing mass but a zeitgeist for the intellectuals to realize their own value in the new social cultural context. The writers of the bottom strata literature create their works with the common people's identity, and they also intervene into the deep life of the bottom strata through the role reversal. They exactly expressed the aspiration of the bottom strata's experience, feeling and benefit through their craftsmanship to fully display the humane feeling, responsible ideology and value carrier of the contemporary intellectuals, including the writers.In the bottom strata literature, the folk characters, working as the important property in the modern and contemporary literature, are reaffirmed in the writing and infused with new connotation in the ways of value location, ethic position and art techniques. This also makes the bottom strata literature break through the creational trap of the extreme individualistic writing to realize and rebuild the socializational writing under the new social cultural context, and to highlight the important social and art value of the literature in the new times.
