On the basis of synthesizing the relational studies on commitment home and abroad, the paper developed a occupational commitment multi-factor model for Chinese nurses. This model includes five factors.By talking to nurses and investigating with an open questionnaire, the paper developed a script scale for nurses. Further, the scale was used for trials. Some results and conclusions were drawn as follows.Results1 reliability of the scale.αcoefficient of the whole scale is 0.820,αcoefficient of each partial scale is between 0.563 and 0.833; Split-half coefficient of the whole scale is 0.798, Split-half coefficient of each partial scale is between 0.596 and 0.798; the retest reliability is 0.890. All indicators of the scale are satisfied with statistical standards of psychology, it has good reliability.2 validity of the scale.(1) content validity. By talking to nurses and expert's advices, the contents of the scale were modified and deleted again and again, so the sale has good content validity.(2) structure validity. The correlation coefficient between content and aggregate score is 0.17-0.74, the correlation is significant. All results of exploratory factor analysis are satisfied with statistical standards of psychology. The scale has good structure validity.(3) criterion validity. The correlation between the nurse occupational commitment scale and job satisfaction scale is positively, and the scale influences the occupational burnout scale negatively.Conclusions1 The nurse occupational commitment scale is consist of normative commitment, emotional commitment, social value commitment, accumulated cost commitment and limited alternatives commitment. The scale has good reliability and validity.2 By the research how the variables such as academic qualification and the grade of hospitals and nurse age influence occupational commitment, we found the occupational commitment is lower with the improvement of academic qualification, and the occupational commitment is higher with the increase of nurse age, and the nurses in band 2 and grade A hospitals have higher occupational commitment than ones in band 3 and grade A hospitals.
