| In this study, subjects were selected from different levels of government officials in Chengdu, focusing on the structure of occupational commitment and based on the literature survey, opening interviews and existing classical scales, the research compiled occupational commitment of government official scale and did some applied study, being analyzed by SPSS and LISERAL.The results of five factors have good reliability and validity. Homogeneity reliability a coefficient of the whole scale is0.895, a coefficient of each partial scale are between0.626and0.815, split-half reliability of the whole scale reaches to0.921, split-half reliability of each partial are between0.674and0.796;The correlation coefficient between content and aggregate score are0.626and0.815and the correlation is significant makes structure validity good.Conclusions comes from two parts1The government official’s occupational commitment scale contains five partials, emotional commitment, limited alternatives and accumulated cost commitment, social identity commitment, normative and loyalty commitment, economics and promotion commitment.2By the research how the variables such as sex, academic qualification, working years, government grade and position grade influence occupational commitment, the findings are as follows. Officials of different sexes are obviously different on economy and promotion commitment, males get higher scores than females. Officials of different academic qualifications are obviously different on limited alternatives and accumulated cost commitment, norm and loyalty commitment and the whole scale. On limited alternatives and accumulated cost commitment, norm and loyalty commitment, master degree officials get lower scores than others and on the whole scale master degree officials are still get lower scores than officials who only has college degree and bachelor degree. Officials of different working years are obviously different on limited alternatives and accumulated cost commitment, norm and loyalty commitment and the whole scale. Officials with6-10working years get lower scores than officials with11-15working years and more than20working years, this finding is the same on the whole scale, additionally,16-20working years officials have lower scores than officials with more than20working years. Officials of different government grade are obviously on emotional commitment, limited alternatives and accumulated cost commitment, economics and promotion commitment and the whole scale. On emotional commitment, economics and promotion commitment, officials who working for county government have higher scores than working for bureau government, on limited alternatives and accumulated cost commitment, department governments’ officials get higher scores than bureau governments’and county governments’ officials, on the whole scale, department governments’officials and county governments’officials have higher scores than bureau governments’officials. Officials of different position grade are obviously on limited alternatives and accumulated cost commitment, normative and loyalty commitment, economics and promotion commitment and the whole scale. On limited alternatives and accumulated cost commitment, normative and loyalty commitment, economics and promotion commitment, directors of department and bureau are in higher scores than common officials,on the whole scale, directors of department and bureau are in higher scores than directors of county, county directors to retire and common officials. |
