The Contrast Research On The Definitions In The Modern Chinese New Words Dictionaries

Along with the modern Chinese new words and expressions emerged massively,many kinds of new words and expressions dictionaries also unceasingly emerged, the research on the new words and expressions has already been a hot topic in the academic circle. These dictionaries of different editions have many differences in selecting words,explaining the definitions,phonetic notations,parts of speech and the character patterns.This paper mainly according to the definition frame of the verbs,nouns and adjectives provided by Mr.FUHuai-qing,combined with the interrelated theories and methods of lexicology and lexicography,adopted two influential new words and expressions dictionaries in the dictionary circle at present: and ,to compare their definitions and then explain differences between these two dictionaries,and summarize the types of differences on the definition frame, the methods of definition,the angle of definition and the installation of the items to find the reasons of the differences,summarize the new characteristics of the definitions in the new words and expressions dictionaries and then put forward some problems that should be noticed to regulate the lexical meanings of the new words and expressions,summarize some principles that should be followed to define the new words and expressions,by doing this to enrich the theories of the lexics and lexicography.The thesis could be divided into three parts: introduction, the main body and the conclusion. In the introduction part, we mainly introduced the origin of this research, the present situation of the research on the new words and expressions in the academic circle, the main content and the investigative objective, the aim and the significance of this research and the methods used to investigate in this research.The main body can be divided into six chapters, this part mainly investigated the different definitions of the words and expressions that appeared in both two dictionaries.The second chapter's main content is about the investigation of the different definiti types of verbs;the third chapter's main content is about the investigation of the different types of nouns; the fourth chapter's main content is about the investigation of the different types of adjectives. The fifth chapter is mainly about the analysis on other differences, for example, the installation of the items and the selecting of the items. The sixth chapter is about the characteristics of the definition of the new words and expressions dictionaries. The seventh chapter point out the principle of the definition in the new words and expressions dictionaries. This thesis mainly according to the definition theories provided by Mr.FUHuai-qing to compare the definition of the words that both appear in these two dictionaries with each other one by one, divide them in to three frames: the spread frame, the definition frame and the single word frame, analyze the difference between different frames, different transforms of the same frame and different semantic characteristics in the same transform, uncover the deep reason by the comparison. On the basic of analysis, adapt to the characteristics of the new words compare with the basic words, we conclude the special frame to define the new words, and do some benefit to enrich Mr.Fu's theory. At the same time, we investigated other difference from all the aspects, conclude the characteristics of the definition of the new words and expressions dictionaries and pointed out the principle of the definition in the new words and expressions dictionaries.The conclusion mainly generalized the contrast analysis, emphasize the characteristic of the new words and expressions dictionary, some principal problems on the definitions of the dictionary and some aspects that should be noticed, demonstrate the development direction of the new words dictionary in a certain degree and provide some reference for the lexicography afterward.Definition is the soul of the dictionary, is the important standard to determine the quality of the dictionary. By contrasting the definition of the new words dictionaries of different editions, we can find the excellence and the shortage, summarize the interrelated theories and methods, it will be an important channel to regulate the lexicography and promote the healthy development of the lexicographical career, it also has a important sense to enrich the lexicography and lexicology theories.
