The translators have focused on in recent years the problems how to adopt the Reception Theory to the translation research and discuss the position and influence of the reader during the period of translation. This discussion mainly concentrates on the relationship among the author, translator and reader, the influence of the readers' reception caused by culture and the role of the readers in the literature criticism. With the increasingly influence of the reader during the translating process, the literature researchers can't ignore the role of the reader any more. Thus the responses of the readers have become an important factor for the quality of the target text.Although the translation of Applied Business Texts doesn't go aside with that of literature, there are also the reception problems. The greatest differences lie in that it emphasizes on the acceptance and expectation of the readers in the information on business and trade instead of pursuing the aesthetics. Because of the varieties of the style of Applied Business Texts, the translators have to face with different readers who have different requirement on and interests in the information. Therefore, as far as translators are concerned, their responsibilities are transferring the information in an effective and right way and meeting the requirements of the readers. After comprehending and understanding the target text, if necessary, the translators have to re-organize and re-create the target text in order to satisfy the special requirement of the readers. The readers' competence, professional knowledge, social status and other factors will influence the reception of the translations. So inevitably, we can at least say that the translators serve for the readers, whether the reader satisfied or not will affect the choices and the applications of the translation strategies.By using the methods of literature survey, comparative study, and illustration by examples, this dissertation brings about the comparison between English and Chinese Applied Business Texts in the perspective of Reception Theory and finds that these two languages have common features of conciseness, accuracy, fix structures and technological terms. Meanwhile, they belong to Hypotactic and Paratactic respectively, and have some differences in sentence structure and cultural background. Therefore, some enlightenment have been explained: 1) Applied Business Text translation can choose varied translation and complete translation. They are not contradictions, and can be combined together in the translation practice. The choice of strategy in the translation of Applied Business Texts, firstly, should depend on the reader, that is to say, the translator can choose any translation strategy according to different readers. Secondly, it depends on the original style; Different style in different exotic cultures has different characteristics. The translator is not entirely passive, taking the readers into consideration, we should choose the appropriate strategy, and achieve the best balance between the readers and the original, so as to facilitate the dissemination of concerned information. 2) Translation should also emphasize on the reception of cultural elements during the translating process of Applied Business Text. According to the different cultural characteristics of English and Chinese, translator should abide by the principle of reader-centered strictly, respect different cultural orientation of the different readers so as to adopt the corresponding translation strategies.I do hope this dissertation will play some roles on the translation of Applied Business Texts, and offer some help to the concerned research.
