Objective: In the study, we planed to study jointly the Multiple Achievement Tests(MAT) on 7~9 Grades of the same sample, and to evaluate the reliability and validity of the tests so as to provide basis for their wide use. The aim of this study was to provide an measurement for the schools' educational decision, the students' developmental assessment, the clinic diagnosis, and the social supervisor, and to form the basis for the establishment of local and national normal performance. Methods: 655 middle school students from grade 7to 9 were chosen randomly. Within two weeks, SAT was repeatedly administered in 76 students from the above-mentioned subjects. The scores of term examination were employed as criterions for two tests. MATs'items, reliabilities, and validities were tested by the different measurement methods. Results: 1 .General result: The statistical analyses of MATs showed no significant difference among the quantity of the variant editions ,grades and genders. The primary scores of tests decreased with the ascending of grades which was in accordance with the grades' characters. 2.Item analysis: The item difficulties of 78.8% ranged from 0.20 to 0.80 and the subtest ranged from 0.18 to 0.68.The item discriminations of 73.9% and 71.5% are better above 0.30 in MATs-A and MATs-B correspondingly, and 83.6% and 77.1% above 0.20. The item difficulties displayed characters of grades. 3.Reliability: The parallel reliability was 0.78. The split-half reliabilities were 0.72 and 0.74 of MATs-A and MATs-B correspondinglyAvalidity: The correlations between subscales or full scales and academic performances were 0.41 and 0. 35 respectively and were significant. Conclusion: MATs of 7~9 Grades have sound stability and can meet the need of psychometrics. Construction and criteria validities conform to the measurement standards. The content validities and concurrent validities are good.
