The Research Of 's Associative Characters

One-fifth of the world population use Chinese characters,and Chinese characters is one of the six working languages of the United Nations.Chinese characters has a major contribution on the development of the Chinese nation and human society.In the world,there are three kinds of the oldest characters,Chinese characters is one of them,which we only use today.As descendants of Chinese,studying the Chinese characters well is our duty,researching it will help us collate and study Chinese ancient literature,use Chinese characters rightly,write and compile dictionaries,and SO on.The study of Chinese characters has a long history,at least about 2,000 years,initially we called it "xiao xue".Xu Shen made a complete theory of Chinese characters——"liu shu".Later on,Xu Xuan,Xu Kai,Zheng Qiao,Yang Shen,Dai Zhen,Duan Yucai,Wang Yun,Gui Fu and Zhu Junsheng had so many contributions.In modern times,Tang Lan,Chen Mengjia,Qiu Xigui,Li Lingpu,Zhan Yinxin,Wang Ning and other masters also have made great achievements.In this paper,for space constraints,we choose a type of Chinese characters——Associative Character to reseach.I have summarised the development and evolution of Associative Character.And I hope that I can make contributions to the comprehensive study on Chinese characters.This paper has mainly used three ways to study:1.Longitudinal study and horizontal studyChinese characters has a long history,every Chinese character generally has experienced a jiaguwen,jinwen,zhuanshu,kaishu,jianti stages,which reflects the state of evolution.In the same time slot,the same components reflect the same changes in a number of Chinese characters.During longitudinal study,it will find the source of Associative Character,and display the development of Associative Character.During horizontal study,we study Xiao Zhuan within the system of《shuo wen jie zi》in LiShu,KaiShu,JianTi stage.2.Macro- study and micro-studyMacro development,simple and soundable are the trend of Chinese characters.And this trend connect with voice,grammar,writing instruments and materials,social development,and other relevant things.As a kind of Chinese characters,Associative Character was also inevitably affected by the trend.Micro development,Associative Character's formation of the structure have differences with formation of pictographic character,indicating character and pictophonetic character.So Associative Character has a unique feature in simple and sound.3.Statistical analysis and quantitative descriptionThe exhaustive description of Associative Character is possibly to show every Associative Character's changes;combining with the statistical data is to show the quantitative changes.Through qualitative and quantitative comparisons analysis of the evolution process it can make research more scientific and accuract.This article was planned for three parts:source,flow,and the end of Associative Character,to display the evolution.I have used three ways to reaserch which are longitudinal study and horizontal study,macro-study and micro-study,and statistical analysis and quantitative description.I also have discussed the origins of Associative Character,and the emergence of Associative Character because Chinese characters born out of pictures.By the principle components analysis,I again check the xiao zhuan system of《shuo wen jie zi》to determine the scope of the research;at last I make xiao zhuan as a starting point to make a list of every word,including lishu,kaishu and simplified Chinese characters.By comparing the similarities and differences between different fonts among the same words,I have summarized the evolution of Associative Character.
