Investigating and sorting out the theory of Chinese character, is not only theinheriting of traditional Chinese character, but also the developing of the modernChinese character. Researching of Chinese character began to prosper in Han Dynastyand had a prosperous time in Qing Dynasty. Most of the researchers were restricted bythe study of Shuowen, however, what results in the unscientific system of Chinesecharacter. The discovery of cultural relic, which provided a new way to solving theproblems that unresolved, promoted the study of Chinese character.Professor Jiang Shanguo is a scholar of Chinese character, and he wasknowledgeable in many fields. A lot of his theories in his books, such as the Originaland Structure of Chinese Character, the Composition and Nature of ChineseCharacter, the Study of Chinese Character Font, the Study of Chinese Character, andthe Speech of Shuowenjiezi, had an influence in the field of Chinese character.The main ideas of Professor Jiang did not break away the traditional Chinesecharacter study, included the study of the original, the nature, the structure and thefont of Chinese character, and he did not realized the difference between philologyand linguistic until he accepted the theory of linguistic. Then, according to thedifference, he devoted to build an independent system of Chinese character.This paper bases on the main ideas of Professor Jiang, try to talk about someproblems of the study of Chinese character.
