Research On The Tibin Phenomenon In Modern Chinese "VO-style Lihe Two-character Group"

The VO separable two-character structures in modern Chinese can be categorized in one group which regards the V+N two-character phrase as the prototype.In this category,a part of members can change the order of two characters and place object character before verbal character by specific grammatical means,whereas the others cannot.According to this difference,the category includes typical members and atypical members.The typical members can be divided into verbal-none,verbal-verbal,verbal-adjective combinations,and the similarities of prototype decrease in sequence.The atypical members can be used in separate form,mainly because of the process which includes analogy,reanalysis and apperception.The reason of why placing object character ahead of verbal character has different forms lies in the extent of conceptual blending.The members from central to rim probably can be divided into four levels on the basis of the theory of conceptual blending,which are low,the second low,the second high,and high.The VO separable two-character structures of relatively low levels always present various forms.Placing object ahead of verbal is very special for the VO separable two-character structures.In the aspect of syntactic,there are three ways to realize it.They are secondary expansion,preposition or adverb marks,unfixed four-character forms.Specifically,secondary expansion always produces a series of sentences similar to "attributive(Y)+object character+inserted(Z)+verbal character+complementary(X)".Preposition or adverb marks can attach additional meanings to the sentence pattern.Unfixed four-character forms rely on the context.In the aspect of semantic,a lot of the VO separable two-character structures have a verbal character with an explicit meaning and an object character with implicit meaning.But after placing forward the object character,it will present specific,individual and certain features.Furthermore,the semantic relationship,the semantic orientation will limit placing object character ahead of verbal character.In the aspect of pragmatic,placing object character ahead of verbal character has functions of moving focus,embodying theme,expressing the subjective understanding of speakers,strengthening cohesion and coherence in discourses.It is a contrive expression in order to stress actions.Based on these three dimensions,placing object character ahead of verbal character comes from the emphasizing requirements between interlocutors.And analogy of the V+N two-character phrase promotes the development.It also has close contact with cognitive thinking mode which lies in people's knowledge of image schemas and prominence.
