Research On The "V/A ZHU"

This dissertation deals with the usage of"V/A ZHU"and related questions."V/A ZHU"is one of the most popular structures in modern Chinese. As a complement, the verb"ZHU"has became more and more empty. It has two meanings:"stop or make something/somebody stop"and"firm,stable". On the basis of full description, we systematically analyses"V/A ZHU"and its related questions in the following parts:The first chapter is an introduction to the background of"V/A ZHU"and our aim of this research. The main part includes contents from the second chapter to the fifth chapter. In chapter 2, we make a clear classification of the verbs and adjectives which can be put into this structure according to the two different meanings of"ZHU".From the syntactic point of view, Chapter 3 not only analyzes the subject and the object of"V/A ZHU", but also demonstrates the differences and the same thing between"V/A ZHU"and"V/A le". And then we analyze the syntactic feature and lexicalization process of the fixed phrases through"JIN BU ZHU".From the semantic point of view, Chapter 4 demonstrates the independent feature of"V/A ZHU", and its"aspect". And then analysis the main sentence patterns in which"V/A ZHU"can be put. At last, we analyze the metaphor feature of the structure"V/A ZHU"under the background of cognitive linguistic theory.Chapter 5, on the basis of grammaticalization theory, demonstrates the grammaticalization process of"V/A ZHU". And then in section 2 of this chapter, reveals the main and important motives of its grammaticalization.
