The Syntactic And Semantic Analysis Of "V Kai" Structure And The Study Of Grammaticalization Of "Kai"

This paper takes"V Kai"structure which is used frequently in Modern Chinese as surveying object, including syntactic analysis, semantic analysis, grammatical analysis and comparative analysis of"V Kai". Based on the previous research, this paper has an overall description on synchronic study of"V Kai", and divide"Kai"into three basic semantic types: the result meaning, the position-movement meaning and the start meaning. We distinguish the different meanings of"Kai"by using the"bounded"and"unbounded"of the verb. Based on the principle of form and meaning integrated, We find out the corresponding relation between deep semantic contents and surface syntactic structure. And we classify the types of the verb which are suitable for the"V Kai"structure. We also try to find some formal mark that"V Kai"indicated different meanings. So, it can be operated easily.Then this paper analyzes the syntax characteristic and sentence configuration of"V Kai". We start from the meaning of the sentence configuration and classify the sentence configuration of"V Kai". We find some formal characteristic while we classify,and we try to make every category different from others by their forms. We check the form and meaning from each other, then we have a further research on the meaning and characteristic of"V Kai".Meanwhile, from the diachronic angle, this paper discussed the regularity of the appearance and development of the"V Kai"structure. And describe the process of"V Kai"which from the basic meaning to the grammatical meaning, and we try to analyze the grammatical and limited motivations of"V Kai"from the cognitive angle. We think the changing of syntax position and metaphor are the reasons why"Kai"can be evolved from the result meaning to the position-movement meaning and the start meaning.Finally, we compare the meaning of"V Kai"with other relevant structures, such as"Qi lai","Shang", and so on. We think all of the three meanings of"V Kai"are limited by the special image. So, although all of"Kai","Qi lai","Shang"can mean start, they are different and can not be replaced by others.
