This paper takes "V+jin/chu" structure which is used frequently in Modern Chinese as surveying object, including syntactic analysis, semantic analysis, grammatical analysis and cognitive explanation of "V+jin/chu". Based on the pre vious research, this paper has an overall description on synchronic study of "V +jin/chu". Based on the analysis of language data, the paper investigates the as ymmetrical phenomena of "V+jin/chu", and discusses the reason of these asym metrical phenomena.Except for the foreword and the epilogue, the thesis is divided into three chapters:Chapter 1: The semantic characteristic investigation of "V+jin/chu": Based on the principle of form and meaning integrated, this paper has an overall des cription on syntactic and the character of semantic of "V+jin/chu" and lays the foundation for revealing the reason of asymmetrical of "V+jin"and "V+chu".Chapter 2: The study of asymmetrical of "jin/chu" when using as tendencycomplements (synchronic and diachronic): This part, we investigate the asymmetrical phenomena of "V+jin" and "V+chu" at diachronic and synchronic level.We investigate the asymmetrical phenomena of "V+jin/chu" at synchronic leve1. The mainly difference is the asymmetry of verb quantity of "V+jin/chu". Investigated asymmetrical phenomena of "V+jin/chu" at diachronic level, there mainly are two aspects of difference: The form time in history and the degree ofgrammaticalization. We deem that the asymmetrical phenomena at diachronic level are one of the reasons that cause the asymmetrical phenomena at synchronic level.Chapter 3: cognitive explanation of the asymmetry of "V+jin/chu": In this part, we mainly explain the extend track and analyse the motivation and mecha nism of "jin/chu" in "V+jin/chu". To our opinion, the meaning of "jin/chu" in "V+jin/chu" changes from space-movement to time-movement and space-movem ent to state-movement. The mechanism of the change is metaphor.
