"Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing"are four key elements of Chinese language skills. How to build the"Reading Capability"is the most difficult subject in Chinese language teaching to foreigners and always becomes the focus. During one year's Chinese teaching practice to foreign students, the author noticed that current reading course only focused on Chinese language knowledge, but omitted reading method and reading strategy.The author consideres that, focusing on Cognitive Psychology research result will help the reading teaching effectively, which will also improve the result to a higher level. Cognitive Psychology rise up in middle of 20th century, which claimed to study Psychology activity structure and process, and focused on study interaction between individual and environment. The theory also considers learning is the result of their interaction. Cognitive Psychology treated teaching as its key study area and provided the theory to modern reading teaching development.According to the principle of"Identify, Analysis and Resolve", this paper tries to summarize the issues in Chinese teaching to foreigners, probes the relationship between reading and Cognitive Psychology. The author also gives the suggestions to foreigner Chinese teaching: Enrich psychology drawing, Optimize reading recognition structure, and Reinforce reading strategy, so that to improve reading teaching effectiveness and efficiency to foreigners in classroom.
