In recent years, theoretical research of teaching Chinese as a foreign language has been deepened and refined, especially structural functionalism and cognitive theory development, which draws more attention of cultivating linguistic skills in foreign language teaching. What’s more, courses for listening, speaking, reading and writing skill training have obtained corresponding importance in curriculum arrangement. However, due to some traditional education conception and teaching method existing for years have not entirely gone out of classroom, resulting in in-class time of reading skills training being occupied by large amount of linguistic knowledge explanation. As a result, reading teaching theory can not be demonstrated adequately in reality. Scientifically speaking, reading is a complex psychological and physical activity. Therefore, further research and correct comprehension of reading psychology will play a significant role in teaching effect and achievement of teaching Chinese reading as a foreign language. Therefore, the thesis starts from importance of reading, investigating on teaching and learning of reading course for overseas students via questionnaire. Sources of problems have been found and summarized and feasible advice has been put forward aiming at various objectives. Hope this can offer some reference for future Chinese reading skill teaching.
