| The developmental process of the Chinese Zither is an evolutionary one that is continuously expanding and improving. In the 1980's, China began moving into an important political, economical, and cultural period of change. This period was favorable for the inheritance, innovation, and development of Chinese Zither music. This thesis will mainly discuss the influence that this period of change has had on Chinese Zither music, demonstrating that the opening of China to the outside world has revitalized Chinese Zither music, and confirming that this period has served as a positive link for connecting the past and the future. This thesis, from the viewpoint and knowledge of the author, will detail the inheritance, development, and prosperity of Chinese Zither music from the 80's to the present. The author will discuss the topics of music composition, the marriage of musical styles, the standardization of professional teaching, improvements made to communication and the exchange of ideas, as well as innovations in technology and playing styles, etc..
