The indication of the Approximate Number is of great significance to the accuracy and vividness of the language. The particular method was richly used in Shandong dialect in the Ming and Qing Dynasty. Based on the Representative works of Popular Literature—"Jin Ping Mei Ci Hua", " Jin Ping Mei", "Awakes World Marriage affinity Biography" and "Chats Rooms Folk tune Collection" which are popular literary in the background of Shandong dialect of Ming and Qing Dynasty—the article collates and summarizes the indication of the Approximate Number in these works, studies the method of Shandong dialect in modern Chinese period ,trying to sum up the basic use situation in Shandong and exploring the further development of this special method in contemporary Chinese. This article includes five parts:Part one, we want to find out the meaning and nature of the indication of the Approximate Number and to define their respective fields by comparison with various linguists who give different interpretations of the definition.Part two to part four is the main part which is the category discussion of the indication of the Approximate Number.Part five, we analyse and explain the application indication of the Approximate Number in brief.Finally, we made a summary of the whole article. We try to find out the main features of the indication of the Approximate Number of Shandong dialect in Ming and Qing Dynasty, such as diversity, Particularity and unbalance.
